good design: the arco armchair
designers mario and claudio bellini, most recently recognized for mario’s ubiquitous bellini chair with the compasso d’oro award in 2001, came together to produce the arco armchair (2005). the everyday chair is a natural evolution of mario’s career that has ranged from utilitarian TV set design to architecting italian art museums.
available in black, white, or red as a injection molded nylon chair, or in clear polycarbonate (shown), the chair is stackable and manufactured by heller, a company whose injection chairs are a staple at modern art museums worldwide.
most currently, the arco chair is part of mario bellini’s feature exhibition at the palazzo della triennale in milan, an event that started this past wednesday.
the chair is available at hive modern and you can find out more about mario bellini on wikipedia.
